Networking

If you have more than one computer in the household then you could probably benefit from having a home network.

A home network allows you to share data between computers and to share a cable or broadband connection. No more taking turns to surf the internet, you could all be surfing at the same time. Or be surfing while someone else is busy catching up with emails.

And the sharing doesn't end there. Wouldn't it be nice if all the computers could share one printer? What about all that music on one computer...wouldn't it be nice to share that with others in the household?

If the network is a wireless one you can work anywhere in the home or garden. Signal strength permitting. And if the signal doesn't permit it you can add another device to extend the range.

The possibilities are almost endless, and we can help you make sense of it all. We will make sure you understand all the options available. If you wish, we will help you select the hardware you need and install it for you, even providing training on how to look after it if that's what you require.

Of course, any network we install is secured from outside problems. We can also help you tighten up security on your individual computers, whether or not they are in a network. Computer security is not difficult to implement and enforce once you understand the basis of the threats, and we'll help you understand it so that you are in control.

Other benefits of a network are the easy duplication and storage of data. Is your hard drive full of digital photos of the family? What would happen if the hard drive failed? Networked devices are a cheap and easy to use way to provide protection for your valuable data should something nasty happen to your computer drive.

You could even share a network between neighbors.

If you have ever considered installing a home network, or already have one but would like to do more with it, why not get in touch with us? We do not charge for initial discussions and you never know, we may just be able to help you.
